Judging time

I went to the photography club tonight and two photography competitions were being judged. I am not sure if I actually want to enter any pictures into a competition though. It is so fickle. A picture that won a previous competition came fourth tonight. It should have won.

I was not impressed with what he was saying. He was too hung up on technicalities. He gave a picture a high score that did not deserve it. There was no point of focus and I did not know what the picture was about, but it got the high score due to part of it being in focus.

The picture of my son got a high score though and it did look funky. It was nice to hear people appreciating it. I know I am biased when I say that I think my son looks lovely but it is nice to hear others think the same.

He would not have liked the portrait of my sons eyelashes that I love. It is not in enough fucus and the DOF is shallow. But that is why I love it.

It has got me questioning about entering competitions though because I do get enjoyment from taking pictures and I enjoy trying to get the best shot possible. I do not follow rules though and I am not a traditional photographer. I might enter one just to see how it goes and then work from there.

I took this shot of my daughter the other day. I thit is really cute. She likes hiding behind trees and saying boo to you when you pass. I think it is so cute that she has hidden behind a tree that is narrower than she is.
